FRENCH SCIENTIST TO EXPLORE THE ANCIENT HORSE FOUND IN THE ALIKOMEKTEPE MONUMENT
Associate Professor, Dr. Remi Berthon, employee of the National Museum of Nature History in Paris (France), is visiting Baku to carry out a variety of analysis on the latest technologies residues of wild and domestic animals found in monuments of the Neolithic period in Azerbaijan.
R. Berthon got acquainted with the paleozoological samples stored in the scientific fund of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS. Particularly the scientist researches residue of horse discovered by archaeologist Farman Mahmudov, in the 80s of the 20th century in Alikomektepe (the village of Uchtepa in the Jalilabad region).
At present, Tufan Akhundov, the head of the archaeological expedition at late neolithic monuments of Alikomektepe and Polutepe, Jalilabad region, the chief researcher at the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, and the Doctor of History, is supporting the French scientist. Also, Svetlana Agasoyly member of the Institute is participating in this initial study, she had been practiced at the National Museum of Natural History in Paris.
Dr. R. Berthon conducted paleozoological researches with archeological expeditions in Neolithic, Chalcolithic and Bronze Age monuments in Turkey and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for a long time.
