Archeologists and anthropologists of the Institute of Archeology and Anthropology of ANAS – Dr. Akif Guliyev, Vusal Hasanov, Lola Huseynova, Lamiya Habibova, Shahin Salimbayov, with the organization of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), participated in trainings on forensic archeology and forensic anthropology in Petnica, Valyevo province, Serbia. Specialists of the ICRC, the State Committee on Prisoners and Missing and Hostaged Citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the "Union of Forensic-Medical Expertise and Pathological Anatomy" of the Ministry of Health also took part in the training.
For two weeks, specialists of the Center of Forensic Archeology and Forensic Anthropology of Serbia prof. Marija Duric, prof. Andrej Starovic, prof. Danijela Donic, Vladimr Pecikoza, Igor Vaduveskovic, Ksenija Zelic, Slobodan Nikolic familiarized their Azerbaijani colleagues with the research conducted by the Center and shared their experiences.
Azerbaijani experts carried out forensic archeology excavations at the Petnica Scientific Center and exhumed skeletons. In the next stage, laboratory research of anthropological materials and other artifacts discovered during the excavations, documentation, identification of skeletons, proper taking of photos, writing of reports according to standards were carried out.
After that, the working group prepared a report on the results of the research work and made a presentation. The report was positively evaluated by Serbian scientists.
At the end, international certificates were presented to the specialists who participated in the training.
