The First International Archaeological Symposium dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the prominent Kazakh scientist, archaeologist Kimal Akishevich Akishev, entitled “Horizons and paradigms of Eurasian archaeology at the modern stage”, was held in Almaty, the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, The Margulan Institute of Archaeology and The Akishev Institute of Scientific Research Archaeology. The Institute of Scientific-Research Archaeology was the organizer of the prestigious event. Scientists from 20 countries (Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Poland, USA, Cyprus, Great Britain, Germany, India, China, Netherlands, etc.) participated in the symposium. The main goal of the symposium was to discuss the current and fundamental problems of Eurasian archaeology and their solution methods.

The Margulan Institute of Archaeology, at the invitation of the General Director of the Institute of Archaeology, Akan Ongaruli, the director of the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS, Ph.D., associate professor Farhad Guliyev, who was sent to the Republic of Kazakhstan, gave a speech entitled “Semi-nomadic cultures of the early agricultural period of the South Caucasus” at the plenary session of the international symposium. During the course of the symposium, the heads of the archaeology institutes of both countries discussed the perspectives of joint research based on common topics. An agreement was reached to sign a memorandum of cooperation between the Institutes for the joint work of Kazakh and Azerbaijani archaeologists.
