On October 4 in year 2024, a Memorandum of Agreement on joint research and educational cooperation in the field of archaeology was signed between the Institute of Archaeology (Margulan Institute of Archaeology)A.Kh named after Margulan and the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.

Submitted by Azerbaijan, director of the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology, doctor of philosophy in history, associate professor Farhad Guliyev, and by Kazakhstan, A.Kh. named after Margulan, the general director of the Institute of Archaeology, candidate of historical sciences Akan Ongarul signed the document.

The provisions reflected in the clauses of the memorandum envisage joint archaeological expeditions establisment, the archaeological research institutes of both countries, the conducting of various artefacts and biofacts analyses  and the experience exchange organization for the training of young specialists. The parties also expressed a unanimous opinion on the joint publication of a scientific magazine covering the archaeological problems and researches of the South Caucasus, Central and Central Asia.
