On March 12, 2025, a scientific seminar titled “The Formation, Development Dynamics, and Chronology of Early Agricultural-Pastoral Cultures in the South Caucasus” was held at Khazar University. The event was organized by the Department of History and Archaeology and the Faculty of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences (HESS) in collaboration with the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS). The seminar was led by Associate Professor Khagani Almammadov, PhD in History, and Head of the Neolithic and Chalcolithic Archaeology Department at the ANAS Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology.

The seminar was attended by Parvin Karimova, Deputy Dean of HESS at Khazar University; Yagub Mammadov, Lecturer at the Department of History and Archaeology and Senior Researcher at the ANAS Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology, PhD in History; Lachin Mustafayev, Lecturer at the Department of History and Archaeology, PhD in History; Faig Nasibov, Lecturer at Baku Higher Oil School; as well as students specializing in History Teaching and History and Geography at the Faculty of HESS.

Dedicated to the memory of Dr. Tufan Akhundov, a senior researcher at the ANAS Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology, the seminar featured an in-depth presentation by Dr. Khagani Almammadov. He provided extensive information on the history of research on early agricultural-pastoral cultures in the South Caucasus, the results achieved, and the research he personally led and participated in.

At the end of the seminar, discussions were held on the topic, and students’ questions were answered.
