The city of Aktau in the Republic of Kazakhstan was declared the “Cultural Capital of the Turkic World for 2025.” In connection with this occasion, a series of events has been launched. On May 28–29, 2025, with the financial support of TÜRKSOY, two scientific-practical conferences were held: “The Civilization of Turkic Peoples and Its Place in the History of World Culture” at Yessenov University, and “The Totem of the Turkic World” at the Otpan Tau Historical Reserve. These conferences were attended by scholars from Turkic-speaking countries, state and public figures of the Republic of Kazakhstan, heads of diplomatic consulates in Aktau, and representatives of the diaspora.

At the international scientific event, Azerbaijan was represented by Associate Professor Safar Ashurov, PhD in History, Head of the “Early Bronze Age Archaeology” Department of the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS. He delivered two presentations: “The Beshbarmag Monument Complex on the Western Shore of the Caspian Sea” and “Defense Fortifications on the Western Shores of the Caspian Sea.” Conference participants were provided with extensive information about the fortifications, castles, and settlements located along the western shores of the Caspian Sea, as well as the significance and role of these monuments within the Turkic World.
