A Representative of the Institute Presented a Paper at the Victory Day Seminar
A Seminar Entitled “Victory Day: Historical Memory and National Identity” Held at Khazar University
On November 6, 2025, a seminar entitled “Victory Day: Historical Memory and National Identity” was held at Khazar University, jointly organized by the Department of History and Archaeology and the House of Tolerance. The event was dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the historic victory in the Patriotic War. The seminar was attended by historians, students, and representatives of the public.
At the seminar, Dr. Yagub Mammadov, PhD in History and Senior Researcher at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS, delivered a presentation entitled: “Renewed Archaeological Research in Karabakh”.
In his speech, he discussed the scientific and cultural significance of the ongoing archaeological investigations in the Karabakh region, emphasizing their contribution to a deeper understanding of Azerbaijan’s ancient history.
Among the speakers at the seminar were:
Raziya Isayeva, Rector of Khazar University, Fatma Pashazadeh, Head of the House of Tolerance, Associate Professor Dr. Telman Nusratoghlu, Head of the Department of History and Archaeology at Khazar University, Dr. Ruxsara Guliyeva, Lecturer, and representatives of various religious communities in Azerbaijan, including: Milikh Yevdayev (Chairman of the Mountain Jews Community), Bakhtiyar Najafov (Deputy Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office, Qadi of Iravan), Robert Mobili (Chairman of the Albanian-Udi Christian Community), and Toral Aghayev (Press Secretary of the Apostolic Prefecture of the Roman Catholic Church in Azerbaijan).
The event also featured the presentation of the novel “The 9th Floor” by writer Ilgar Kamil, dedicated to the life of martyred lieutenant Murad Naghiyev.
In addition, veterans and representatives of families of martyrs participated in the seminar. Their emotional speeches added a special and heartfelt atmosphere to the event.
This gathering served not only as a platform for scientific discourse but also became a ceremonial commemoration of national unity and historical memory.
