Employees of the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences — Head of the Anthropology Department, Doctor of Anthropology, Professor Aliagha Mammadli, Head of the Forensic Archaeology Department, Doctor of Philosophy in History Akif Guliyev, and Research Fellow of the Forensic Archaeology Department, PhD student at Ankara University Arif Guliyev participated in the III International Congress of Anthropological Sciences held in Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Turkey.

At the congress held at Ankara University, Doctor of Anthropology Sciences, Professor Aliagha Mammadli delivered reports on “General Overview of the System of Relations between Ethnic Groups Living in Azerbaijan”, Doctor of Philosophy in History Science Akif Guliyev “First Research on Forensic Archaeology in Azerbaijan”, and Arif Guliyev “Research on Forensic Archaeology and Forensic Anthropology Conducted after the Second Karabakh War”.

The International Scientific Congress was attended by scientists from Turkey, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Italy, the People’s Republic of China, the USA, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Canada. Foreign anthropologists welcomed with great interest the reports of Azerbaijani scientists at the congress on the important scientific results achieved by Azerbaijani archaeologists and anthropologists in the study of polyethnic diversity in Azerbaijan, the identification of captive and missing Azerbaijanis based on skeletal remains, and the study of ancient history.
