Elmira Jafarova, PhD in History, Associate Professor, Senior Researcher at the “History and Theory of Archaeological Heritage” Department of the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, delivered a speech at the International Scientific Conference held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The conference was organized by the Samarkand Archaeological Institute named after Y. Qulyamov, under the title “Interdisciplinary Study and Preservation of the Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Central Asia: Achievements and Perspectives.”

Her report, titled “Archaeological Heritage in the Space of Dialogue with Modernity,” was presented in both English and Russian and attracted significant attention.

Archaeologists, scientists, and researchers representing Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, France, Japan, Russia, and other countries delivered scientific presentations at the conference.

During the conference, participants visited several historical and archaeological sites in and around Samarkand, which has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001. Among the sites was the Afrasiab settlement and its museum complex, reflecting ancient and early Islamic cultures.
