“Employees of the Icherisheher Reserve, archaeologists, and tourism guides gathered together”
On February 27, 2025, the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS (ANAS IAA) and the Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve Department held an event dedicated to International Tour Guides Day at the Museum Exhibition Hall of ANAS IAA.
The event aimed to present the joint Museum Exhibition Hall of ANAS IAA and Icherisheher Museum Center, and to organize an info-tour and scientific discussions for tour guides.
During the event dedicated to ANAS IAA’s volunteer program, the Scientific Secretary of ANAS IAA, PhD in History, Associate Professor Ellada Bakirova emphasized the importance of the event and highlighted the significance of bringing together tour guides, scientists, and cultural experts.
Later, Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs of ANAS IAA, Doctor of Historical Sciences Zaur Hasanov spoke about the importance of publicizing archaeological research in accordance with the requirements of modern science.
In his speech, Yahya Bayramov, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Tour Guides Association, stressed the need to improve guides’ knowledge about historical monuments, study these monuments, and transfer information about them to guides. Pervin Niftaliyeva, Deputy Head of the Icherisheher Museum Center, emphasized the importance of dynamic cooperation with guides.
Gunel Valiyeva, ANAS IAA employee and program coordinator, spoke about involving volunteers in the program and the role of this initiative both in organizing museum work and increasing youth’s interest in science.
Leading researcher of ANAS IAA, PhD Parviz Gasimov made a presentation on “Preliminary Information About Archaeological Excavations in Liberated Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur”. In his presentation accompanied by visual electronic slides, P. Gasimov spoke about the archaeological excavations conducted by the institute over three years in the liberated territories, noting that as the monuments are studied, they will become accessible to visitors. This will create great opportunities for the development of domestic and foreign tourism.
Professor of ANAS IAA, senior scientist Hidayat Jafarov provided information about the history of the Exhibition Hall.
Orkhan Zamanov, acting head of the Scientific Fund and Exposition Department of ANAS IAA, gave detailed information about the presentation of the guide training course and volunteer experience program under the “Volunteer Experience” announced in the Museum Exhibition Hall.
At the end of the event, a presentation of the joint Museum Exhibition Hall of the Icherisheher Museum Center and ANAS IAA was held, and an info-tour was organized in the Museum Exhibition Hall based on the updated excursion text.
