Lola Huseynova, a senior researcher at our institute, successfully participated in the Archaeological Summer School organized by Yunus Emre Institute of Turkey.

Within the framework of the summer school held in July, the participants had the opportunity to get to know the ancient history, rich archaeological heritage, culture and art of Turkey. Within the framework of the program, the participants visited the cities of Çanakkale, İzmir, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Ankara and Istanbul, and visited famous archaeological excavation sites such as Göbeklitepe, Ephesus, Karahantepe, Troy and Gordion.

In addition, about 20 museums, about 10 major excavation sites, a tour of the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara, as well as cultural programs such as “İrfan Sofrası” provided an introduction to the heritage of Turkey from different periods.

At the closing ceremony of the summer school, the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and the President of Yunus Emre Institute Prof. Dr. Abdurrahman Aliy participated. The Azerbaijani dance performed to the tune of the song “Sari Gelin” in the opening part of the event was met with special interest.

Archaeologists, historians, epigraphers and numismatists from 20 countries – including Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, India, Egypt, Ethiopia, Tunisia, Denmark, Canada, Mexico, Macedonia, Iran and Albania – participated in the program.

At the end of the summer school, certificates were presented to all participants, and the foundations of new scientific and academic cooperation were laid.
