Institute Researcher Speaks at International Online Seminar in Uzbekistan
On 13–14 January 2026, an international online winter school seminar-training titled “Modern Trends in the Development of Foreign Language Teaching Methodology: Local Approaches and Solutions Based on International Experience” was organized by Bukhara State Technical University. Moderated by Associate Professor Nasiba Ibodova, the event brought together researchers from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and other countries.
At the seminar, Associate Professor Anar Agalarzade, PhD in History and Leading Researcher at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS, delivered a presentation titled “Azerbaijan–Uzbek Cultural Relations: A Historical Perspective.” In his talk, he emphasized that Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are closely connected through shared historical, religious, and cultural ties. He cited remarks made during the recent visit of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to Uzbekistan, recalling President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s statement that the friendship between the two nations is rooted in common spiritual values, religion, similar cultures, and language. Classical scholars such as Ahmad al-Fergani and Al-Biruni referenced Azerbaijani cities in their works, describing them as places where Eastern and Western civilizations interacted.
The presentation also highlighted that recent cooperation in cultural heritage research has encouraged scholars from both countries to re-examine the material culture of peoples historically connected along the Silk Road. Comparative studies of medieval archaeological materials have already been conducted and published. The speaker expressed confidence that collaboration in the cultural heritage field will continue to expand in the future.
