A presentation meeting of the Archaeological Society was held at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).

The event was attended by Dr. Farhad Guliyev, PhD in History and Associate Professor, Director of the Institute; Dr. Ellada Bakirova, PhD in History and Associate Professor, Scientific Secretary of the Institute; leading researchers Dr. Parviz Gasimov and Dr. Yagub Mammadov; as well as the founder and organizers of the Archaeological Society — Orkhan Zamanov, Head of the Department of Scientific Exhibition Organization, department staff members Nurana Hasanova and Turkan Aliyeva, along with members of the Society’s executive board and general membership.

Opening the event, Director Farhad Guliyev emphasized the importance of supporting youth-led scientific initiatives. He stated that the Institute’s leadership would provide full support for the implementation of innovative and rational ideas proposed by young researchers in the fields of Azerbaijani archaeology and anthropology.

Within the framework of the meeting, a presentation was delivered outlining the objectives, organizational structure, and areas of activity of the Archaeological Society. It was noted that the Society will focus on promoting archaeological heritage on a scientific basis, strengthening public awareness efforts, and encouraging youth engagement in archaeology.

During the event, reports were presented by the Society’s Chairperson Konul Ibrahimli and Secretary Nazrin Guliyeva regarding future activities and planned projects. Additionally, members of the Society introduced project ideas and conceptual presentations related to the promotion and preservation of archaeology and tangible cultural heritage.

Among the projects that attracted particular interest were:

“Archaeological Sites Monitoring Platform” by Aysel Hasanova,

“Echo of the Past” by Matanat Teymurlu,

“Karabakh Heritage 360°” by Saladdin Gochuzade.

These concepts and projects were discussed with the active participation of the Institute’s Director. New project proposals were voiced, and preliminary decisions were made regarding their implementation.

In his remarks, Dr. Yagub Mammadov highlighted the importance of creating a scientifically grounded yet popular-accessible archaeological map of Azerbaijan. Participants also stressed the necessity of organizing the Society’s activities in a systematic and phased manner.

At the conclusion of the event, Director Farhad Guliyev shared his views and recommendations regarding the presented projects.
