Training Held on the Application of Modern Measurement Technologies in Archaeological Research
A training session titled “New Measurement Opportunities with Gintec Technologies” was organized by Geototal LLC and the Chinese company Gintec. The event was attended by Dr. Zaur Hasanov, Doctor of Historical Sciences and Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs of the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS, and doctoral student Narmin Mammadli. The training was conducted by Chinese geodesy specialists, who provided detailed presentations on the application of modern measurement technologies and the functional capabilities of next-generation equipment.
The purpose of the event was to introduce new models of Gintec-brand geodetic and topographic equipment, demonstrate their technical features, and facilitate professional exchange with specialists.
It should be noted that the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology has acquired a GNSS “G40 Plus” device manufactured by Gintec for the creation of topographic maps. Under the leadership of Zaur Hasanov, this equipment will be used to conduct archaeological research in the territories of Karabakh liberated from occupation within the framework of the project funded by the Azerbaijan Science Foundation titled *“Iron Age Kurgans of Karabakh: Archaeological Investigation of the Yedditepe Site in Fuzuli District and Surrounding Areas.”* The project is scheduled to begin in November 2025 and continue for two years.
Participation in the training is considered highly important for increasing the practical expertise of institute staff and for learning how to integrate modern measurement technologies into archaeological research.
