Training Held on the Application of Modern Survey Technologies in Archaeological Research
A training session titled “New Survey Opportunities with Gintec Technologies” was organized by Geototal LLC in cooperation with Gintec, a geodetic equipment company based in the People’s Republic of China.
The training was attended by Dr. Zaur Hasanov, Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), and doctoral student Narmin Mammadli from the same institute.
The training was conducted by Chinese geodesy specialists, who presented detailed information on the application of modern survey technologies and the functional capabilities of new-generation instruments.
The main purpose of the event was to introduce the latest models of Gintec-branded equipment used in the fields of geodesy and topography, to demonstrate their technical specifications, and to facilitate the exchange of experience among professionals.
It should be noted that the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology has recently acquired the GNSS “G40 Plus” device manufactured by Gintec for the purpose of creating topographic maps. Under the leadership of Dr. Zaur Hasanov, this equipment will be used in the framework of the project titled
“Iron Age Kurgans of Karabakh: Archaeological Research at the Yedditepe Monument and Surrounding Areas in Fuzuli District”,
funded by the Azerbaijan Science Foundation.
The project is planned to begin in November 2025 and will be implemented over the course of two years in the territories of Karabakh liberated from occupation.
Participation in the training was of significant importance for the Institute’s staff in terms of enhancing practical skills and learning about the application of modern survey technologies in archaeological research.
